What to consider before booking
No contraception & two menstrual cycles required
You need to have a regular cycle to do this test. Hormonal contraception can alter the levels of hormones and prevent a proper diagnosis of reproductive and endocrine health issues.
Test around day 21 of menstrual cycle
This applies to regular 28-day cycles. For cycles of different lengths, adjust accordingly: subtract 7 days from your average cycle length. For example, if your cycle is 33 days, the blood sample should be taken around day 26 (+/- 1 day). The first day of the cycle is the first day of normal bleeding.
